Site-led security planning

Security Designed Around Your Actual Risk Areas

A camera count is not a security design. Effective protection starts by identifying what must be observed, where access must be controlled, how incidents should be reviewed and who needs authorised visibility.

Himax assesses perimeter lines, entrances, public areas, cash or stock zones, critical rooms, lighting, network availability, recording requirements and day-to-day security procedures. We then design a system that connects the right devices, storage, viewing points and access rules without leaving avoidable blind spots.

The objective is not simply to install devices. It is to create useful visibility and controlled movement across your property.

CCTV Surveillance Systems

Himax provides CCTV installation in Rwanda for homes, offices, shops, warehouses, hotels, schools, hospitals, construction sites, financial institutions and public facilities. Solutions can use IP or analogue cameras according to the site, image-quality requirement, existing infrastructure and budget.

We plan camera position, lens and field of view, lighting conditions, recording capacity, remote access, power, cabling and network performance as one system. After installation, cameras and recorders are configured, tested and handed over with user guidance.

Typical systems and products

  • Hikvision IP network cameras
  • Hikvision Turbo HD analogue cameras
  • Dome, turret, bullet and panoramic cameras
  • PTZ and speed-dome cameras
  • ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light camera options
  • AcuSense-capable cameras and recorders, where selected
  • Network video recorders and digital video recorders
  • Surveillance hard drives, memory cards and storage accessories
  • PoE switches, transmission accessories, cables and monitors

Best for: Perimeter monitoring, entrances, operations, stock areas, customer spaces, remote sites and incident review.

Accountable entry

Door Access Control

Control who can enter specific doors, rooms and restricted areas. Himax designs access-control systems for offices, apartment buildings, warehouses, schools, healthcare facilities, server rooms, finance environments and other sites that need accountable entry management.

The system is planned around user groups, door types, credentials, exit rules, emergency operation and administration requirements. Depending on the design, access may be granted through cards, PINs, fingerprints, facial recognition or authorised combinations.

Typical systems and products

  • Door access controllers
  • Card and biometric readers
  • Fingerprint terminals
  • Face-recognition terminals
  • Electromagnetic and electric locks
  • Exit buttons, door contacts and power supplies
  • Cards, tags and credential accessories
  • Access-management software and workstations

Best for: Restricted rooms, employee entrances, residential access, server areas, stores, laboratories and multi-door facilities.

Consistent attendance records

Biometric Time and Attendance Systems

Replace fragmented attendance records with a more consistent way to capture arrival, departure and working-time events. Himax supplies and configures biometric attendance systems for organisations that need dependable records across one or several entry points.

We help select the suitable authentication method, terminal capacity, placement and reporting workflow. The final configuration can be planned around departments, shifts, authorised administrators and the organisation’s internal attendance process.

Typical systems and products

  • Fingerprint attendance terminals
  • Face-recognition attendance terminals
  • Card-based time-attendance devices
  • Combined access-control and attendance terminals
  • Attendance-management software
  • Network, power and mounting accessories

Best for: Offices, schools, factories, hospitality, healthcare, retail and organisations with shift-based teams.

Verified visitor entry

Video Intercom and Visitor Entry

Know who is requesting entry before a door or gate is opened. Video intercom systems combine visitor calling, two-way communication and controlled release for homes, apartments, offices, reception areas and gated facilities.

Himax plans indoor and outdoor stations, display points, network or cable routes, door-release integration and user permissions. The result is a more coordinated visitor-entry experience for occupants, reception staff and security teams.

Typical systems and products

  • IP and compatible video intercom systems
  • Outdoor door stations
  • Indoor touch monitors
  • Villa and apartment intercom kits
  • Door-release interfaces and locks
  • PoE switches, power supplies and mounting accessories

Best for: Residential properties, apartments, offices, schools, gated facilities and reception-controlled entrances.

Security Inspection Equipment

High-traffic and controlled environments may need more than surveillance. Himax supplies security inspection equipment that supports screening procedures at entrances to institutions, venues, logistics facilities, hotels and other sensitive sites.

Equipment selection depends on the items being screened, traffic volume, available space, operator workflow and required detection capability. Himax supports supply, placement, basic configuration, operator orientation and technical coordination.

Typical systems and products

  • Walk-through metal detectors
  • Hand-held metal detectors
  • X-ray security inspection systems
  • Screening monitors and operator stations
  • Supporting tables, power and installation accessories

Best for: Public facilities, events, hotels, schools, logistics sites, corporate premises and controlled entry points.

Authorised visibility

Remote Viewing and Central Monitoring

Bring cameras, recordings and selected security events into a viewing setup that authorised teams can use. Himax configures local monitoring stations, remote viewing and multi-screen control-room environments according to the number of devices, sites and users.

For multi-branch operations, the design can centralise visibility while preserving permissions by role or location. Network bandwidth, storage, monitor layout, workstation performance and escalation procedures are considered before the system is commissioned.

Typical systems and products

  • Local and remote CCTV viewing
  • Video-management workstations
  • Multi-screen monitoring walls
  • Decoders, controllers and display systems
  • Central storage and recording systems
  • Network switches and secure remote connectivity

Best for: Multi-site businesses, campuses, warehouses, financial institutions, command centres and security operations rooms.

Build Protection in Layers

Where should your first line of visibility begin, and which spaces require stronger control? A coordinated system assigns the right security function to each zone.

01

Perimeter

Observe approaches, boundaries, gates, parking and external movement with cameras suited to distance, light and weather exposure.

02

Entry

Verify visitors, control doors, screen arrivals and maintain clearer records of who entered and when.

03

Public and Operational Areas

Monitor customer spaces, corridors, work areas, stock movement and critical operational activity.

04

Restricted Areas

Apply tighter access permissions and focused surveillance to server rooms, stores, cash areas, laboratories and other sensitive zones.

05

Monitoring and Response

Give authorised personnel useful live views, recordings, alerts and incident-review tools from a local or central station.

Frequently asked questions

Plan Your Security System with Better Information

What should you confirm before choosing cameras, storage, access credentials or remote viewing?

How many CCTV cameras does my property need?

The right number depends on the areas that must be observed, required detail, camera field of view, building layout, lighting and acceptable blind spots. Himax confirms this through a site assessment rather than estimating from property size alone.

Should I choose IP cameras or analogue CCTV cameras?

IP systems are often preferred for new, scalable and networked deployments. Analogue systems can remain practical for certain budgets or upgrades that reuse compatible cabling. Himax recommends the architecture after reviewing image quality, distance, infrastructure and future expansion.

Can I view my CCTV system remotely?

Remote viewing can be configured where the selected equipment, internet connection and security policy support it. Access should be limited to authorised users and configured securely.

How long can CCTV footage be stored?

Retention depends on camera count, resolution, frame rate, compression, recording mode and storage capacity. Himax calculates storage around your required retention period before specifying the recorder and drives.

Can access control and attendance use the same terminal?

Some terminals can support both functions. Suitability depends on door-control requirements, attendance workflow, reporting needs and the selected product.

Do you support CCTV systems after installation?

Yes. Himax can provide preventive checks, troubleshooting, configuration support, equipment replacement and system expansion according to the agreed support scope.
